What a business magnet is used for

A business fridge magnet goes where few promotional products can: on the fridge door, the side of a locker or a metal filing cabinet, at eye level and seen several times a day. That is why it works so well for services people buy when a problem comes up: garages, clinics, insurance, maintenance or estate agents. The phone number is visible when it matters. It is also one of the most economical items per unit in any promotional gifts for businesses campaign.

Two technical details decide the result. The first is the thickness of the magnetic sheet: around 0,4 mm is enough for the magnet to hold on its own, and 0,8-0,9 mm is needed if it also has to hold a sheet of paper. The second is the surface: many stainless steel fridges are not magnetic, so it is worth thinking about whiteboards, filing cabinets or lockers as well. For the design, reading distance matters most, at just over one metre: a large logo, one useful detail such as a phone number, website or QR code, and little else.

These custom fridge magnets are not in the online catalogue: they are produced from your specifications. With this, we prepare the quote and free mock-up:

• Quantity and, if there is more than one design, how many units of each. The minimum quantity depends on the mould or die and we confirm it in the quote; a custom die is especially worthwhile for runs of several hundred.
• Size and shape: card format, square, round or your own outline.
• Material and finish: matt or gloss vinyl, metal, wood or acrylic, and whether you want an added function such as a bottle opener, wipe-clean board or calendar.
• Use: whether it only needs to stick or also needs to hold paper, so we can choose the sheet thickness.
• Date you need them by, especially if there is a trade fair or a scheduled mailing.
• Logo in vector format (SVG, AI or PDF); if you only have PNG or JPG, we will check it and tell you whether it works.

   Within 24 working hours you receive the quote and a free mock-up of the magnet with your design, in the chosen shape and size.

   Approval and payment

   You pay when you approve the mock-up, before production starts. If the magnet needs a new die, the cut line is finalised at that point: very fine points are rounded slightly so they do not break.

   Production and delivery

   The usual lead time is two or three weeks from approval, depending on the material and quantity. We ship with tracking to one address or split between several sites, across the EU.

Where they fit and what to pair them with

At trade fairs, the advantage is weight: a card-size magnet weighs about 10 g, so mil units fit in a small box and can be handed out in batches from the stand. It works well as a companion piece to higher-value items within merchandise for events, trade fairs and conferences, and unlike a flyer it ends up stuck to a surface instead of folded into a pocket.

For clients and employees, a printed fridge magnet rarely goes on its own: it is usually paired with a custom calendar, a custom pen or a notebook. If it includes an annual calendar or a wipe-clean board surface, the best time to send it is at the start of the year. And if your company focuses on an eco-friendly merchandise range, an engraved wooden magnet fits better than a vinyl one.
